It’s no wonder when we stumbled upon the 2013 HPE650 Supercharged Challenger SRT8 Hemi dyno and track video, we couldn’t help but sit back, crank up the volume and smile.
These days, making power is painfully easy. Years ago it required lots of finite tuning, involving lots of time spent under the hood. Heck, if you really wanted to make lots of twist, yanking the motor for a complete rebuild with a longer stroke or some larger bores was only part of the norm.
Fortunately, for most of the late-model crowd, they’ve got it pretty easy, especially with the likes of Hennessey Performance. Hennessey has fast become a powerhouse when it comes to creating some of the meanest street cars and trucks on the planet.
Their latest Hennessey HPE650 Hemi package for Challenger, Charger, 300C and even Grand Cherokee models is no exception. That’s right, you didn’t read that incorrectly. Hennessey is producing bolt-on packages for the late-model, 2013 Hemi powered vehicles good for 650hp at 6,200 rpm at the crank.
Better yet, their packages are street-proven. These days, the addition of basic ingredients with guaranteed bolt-on parts by way of a roots-type supercharger, full exhaust system including long tube headers and finally an ECU flash tune, making lots of reliable power. After all, it’s all about roasting that new set of rear tires, right?
We have to say we’re more than impressed with 525 hp making its way to the rear wheels (650 hp at the crank), complete with a 3 year/36,000 mile limited warranty. That’s definitely a trend we can get with. Of course, don’t take our word for it, we’ll let the video do most of the talking.
