SEMA is a hotbed for new parts and we’re already starting to see some big-ticket horsepower items drop for 2016. The first we noticed was Edelbrock’s Gen III hemi heads. Previously, Gen III hemi builders were limited to factory castings and only a few expensive, niche manufacturers. Edelbrock’s Performer RPM heads bring a much needed option to the table for an engine architecture in dire need of aftermarket love.

The heads are drilled with bolt patterns to fit 5.7 Eagle, 6.1 and 6.4 intakes and will bolt up to a Hellcat supercharger. Intake flow is a whopping 350cfm and the 2.165-inch intake valves will even clear the smaller bore of the 5.7. The heads have a .75-inch thick deck to keep them rigid under power, and in a recent dyno test, they were worth 25-horsepower over a stock head. Like other Performer RPM heads they have an as-cast port, CNC chamber, and CNC profiled intake and exhaust entries/exits. Complete heads ship with upgraded valvetrain hardware as well.

“There’s room to grow,” said Rob Simons, who lead the engineering of the heads. “If you want to port these yourself. They have a little more meat than what the stock head offers.” “They also have a thicker deck, better cooling –– sort of your standard hot rod recipe.”

his being an RPM level head, it’s based on stock-style architecture, such that no valve angles have been changed or ports raised/lowered, but Simons teases that there will be more to come. Could we see a Victor tier of gen III hemi head? Only time will tell –– because Simons wouldn’t spill the beans.

As a much-deserved compliment to the new heads, Edelbrock also released a Victor EFI manifold. Cast from aluminum, the manifold is ported for increased airflow and won’t snap like a potato chip should boost be turned up or a backfire occur. There are even cast bosses for direct-port nitrous nozzles to live, should one be so inclined. The manifold is a direct fit onto 5.7 Eagle, 6.1 and 6.4 hemis and is already pre-drilled for the larger Hellcat throttle body.

Christmas came early for Hemi fans this year.
Very cool. My RAM will need some upgrades eventually. :)
