A Quick Look at Texas Metal’s Hemi-Swapped 1965 Belvedere

Bill Carlton from Texas Metal might be known for creating trucks that you want, but he also knows how to get a muscle cars right. Carlton and the guys from Ekstensive Metal Works took this original-paint 1965 Belvedere and dropped in a 6.4L Hemi and a four-speed transmission then slammed it down.

The body and paint of the car is original, so instead of building the car around the drivetrain and wheels, Carlton color sanded the body, painted the engine compartment and de-arched the springs and built the wheels to fit the new profile. The firewall was smoothed and color-matched to the rest of the car.

The bumpers were welded and rechromed before being brushed to match the rest of the aluminum and stainless on the car. The interior is what you could call a factory custom in black with aftermarket gauges.

The result is a quick, original-paint driver with reliable late-model parts that we’d probably use every day if we could. We know the owner will.
Project created by Ekstensive Metal Works, my home town guys!
I love the brushed metal instead of keeping everything chrome.
