A Little Different Industrial engine

Ok...Here's what I've got. An IND-56 engine...'56 331 Industrial...But it's got a hydraulic cam, water outlets in the heads...a strange combo?...or just a change to a few automotive components after a rebuild? Any ideas?

Krooser, I have approximately 20 , Ind 56 motors and 10 56A motors and about 5 392 motors , all have hydraulic cams, and water passages in the heads. The 331/Ind56 had a different style water pump than the 354/56A and the 392. the real early 331 car motors (and maybe the same years Ind) had the thermostat in the intake instead of the water crossover. The early style ran from 1951 to (I think?)1954. Dean

I too have noticed that an engine having humped industrial valve covers does not necessarily mean its got a solid lifter cam. My guess is that Chrysler got too many complaints from owners having to worry about valve adjustment, as some of these ran near continously in the field.
