interesting 331 truck motor

Post by johnny5 »

I tore down the 331 truck motor I recently acquired. It's stock and otherwise un-touched:

VT 348 (yes, the number is correct, and yes, it's a 331 Chrysler)
Block# 1330129-2 (non-extended bellhousing)
Head# 1536367-1 (large ports, tall skinny water heat x-over)
Plain no-name valve covers
4-bolt exhaust manifolds (no casting# yet)
Single 1bbl intake manifold# 1536375-1
Full length sump oil pan

The interesting part about this motor is the number stamped on the valley cover. It follows the Dodge numbering convention for some reason. The heads seem to be an un-documented casting#.

That was a 1954 Dodge truck 331 cu in motor with a set of 331 truck heads, Leos' book documents them.
