M44S-3 should be a Dodge 270. The R means reverse rotation.

Re: Help identify 2 Chrysler Royal Marine Engines
Thank you both for your replies.
As these are both in rough shape having sat for 25yrs my next project is to find out if they are worth anything with transmissions or if they are just scrap.
Regards

W hat's your definition of rough? Were they run in fresh or salt water? If salt they may be rusted too badly inside. Fresh probably not. Take em apart & find out what is still good. Assuming a boat tranny, it may have value to boat guys, an OEM car tranny same comment but probably a lot less than the boat one(just guessing!)
Re: Help identify 2 Chrysler Royal Marine Engines
I have been selling off the marine components of mine to make back the money I paid for them. They were run in fresh water and sat in storage for 4 decades. Mine are in great shape inside. They are like time capsules.
