SRT-8
Does anyone know if the SRT-8 will be a possible product from dodge in their rams. I know an after market supercharger is great, but I'd want one under warranty. Not only that, you'd get the suspension work with a better transmission, but then again, you never know.

SRT-8?? I would rather have a dodge Charger with the new HEMI and wait when i say Charger it better be real wheel drive!!!! The other thing that would be great is best bang for their buck Dodge fight the mustang and scare the vette but do not go overbored when you bring it into this world start with a plain and simple Charger HEMI then add another upstage like a Charger R/T (supercharged) and for petes sake make it have options like what engine 4.7, or even the lil ol V6 or the 4 banger, i want to see option lists and i am only 20 and i dream about owning a car i can afford that has some visual appeal to the mustang owner. i am tired of seeing only mustangs anymore i want a mopar that changes the scene of the world from mustang dominance to a Charger appeal
Id like to see a Charger 5.7L. The 345-hp version would be a great base V-8 and the R/T would be awesome with a 430hp supercharged version. My insurance company would probably love me then Im tired of seeing Mustangs as well even though I have 3. People dont keep them in good condition like they should.

No on the Ram version. There is a SRT-10 Ram. Next comes the 300 SRT-8 and PVO Magnum.mnc2886 wrote:Does anyone know if the SRT-8 will be a possible product from dodge in their rams. 05 or 06, depending on the 1 Mil mile engine testing, there is going to be engine option 6.1 ltr and replacement V-10 engine.
However, I still trying to find out on the 05 Ram refresh program (face lift).

ya well if you make a 6.1L blown then you just start making an exspensive Dodge Viper all over again there has to be a small engine so that there are young kids buying a charger V-6 or otherwise you just keep making cars to exspensive for people of my generation. yes it would be nice to have the ultimate, but remember more power more money

HEMI growth
HEMIDakota,. I anticipate the 6.1 more than anything. Can the 5.7 block be bored over at all? I have heard conflicting statements. Isnt it the exact same stroke as the 5.9? but with smaller diameter cylinders??? Besides size is their a cam difference on the 6.1?? A bigger HEMI Would be my dream,

Agreed but this car will be in the 30ish (k) dollars range. The PVO 300 will be priced in the low 40ish (k) range.mnc2886 wrote:I didn't know they are allready starting to mess with the new ram body style. When you find something out, I'd like to see it posted, and maybe pics of some sort.
Hmm...that means someone will get fired. I don't think so unless Ms. Priddy gets it first.
Think about why car-truck.com is no more!

Remember now, during any refresh (2-3 years callit the half way point for platform life), it is more cosmetics than a complete redesign.

Re: HEMI growth
It was based on the 5.9 dimensions to ensure it can be dropped in the current Ram. You know what that means? The curent Durango and Dakota can be upgraded via salvage yard, eBayMotors, or Mopar crate engines. Smart thinking from Ma Mopar.MG42pillbox wrote:HEMIDakota,. The 6.1 will have the same dimensions has the 5.7 ltr, to ensure there is no mods for engine mounting issues. Yet, according to the source, he quoted this motor is a torquer. If you get this hint then you will know exactly how they did it with the bore and stroke. The current 6.1 ltr mule being tested is running over 500 - 600 HP range.
Looking at the 3.7, 4.7, and 5.7, the torque factor is not much of a difference compared to the magnum design engines. The torque line will start around 1500 and hold until 5000 (short of it).

Steve, If that is true I will be much more than Happy, But going from 5.7 to 6.1 isnt that much more displment, a very slight amount of stroke increase would make a 5.7 a 6.1, Now I must ask can the current 5.7 be bored at all??

Here it is:
Check www.autonews.com subscribers section on refresh program. Someone did reply...same source.
The Ram gets the 18-inch wheels as standard, Durango interior, and the 6.1 ltr engine but no V-10 Hemi. V-10 Magnum is gone.

Let me look to see if this is a ASP link. If it is, then I will paste it.
If the source is correct, you want the 6.1 vice 5.7. The difference is going to be a mere 100HP and torque factor is greater for the 6.1 than the 5.7 ltr engine.

What model year are we talking about? '04 or '05?Hemidakota wrote: The Ram gets the 18-inch wheels as standard, Durango interior, and the 6.1 ltr engine but no V-10 Hemi. V-10 Magnum is gone.
Is the 6.1L slated as an option for the 1500 trucks?
(Was the V10 ever in the 1500s or only in 2500s?)

1500 in 05, 06 for HD. The Cummins in 06 also...unless there is some insider (they won't talk about it) for the V-10 Hemi, I suspect that the Viper GTS will get it first before the PVO version.scottm wrote:What model year are we talking about? I have to agree, 100 hp seems a bit steep. On the contrair, the muscle car is slowly making its way back. Maybe 10 years from now 400 horsepower will be close to the average, and maybe all these ricers will go away. All power aside, will it be reliable? I am all for hot roddin, but there are those times where you don't need it, and you just want a truck. I hope dodge can slap their 7/70 warranty on it with out holding their breath. As far as getting one, I personally will wait a year, at most two after it comes out, then maybe there will be minimal problems. But now that dodge is doing that, do you know if they are working on a much smaller V-8 hemi, ya know, good power, but great gas mileage. My cousin has a 305 chevy in a silverado, and he gets 21/25 mpg. I'd love that in a hemi.

The test bed PVO 300 is no less than 400 but more than the Caddilac 05 model. They would not quote the exact HP numbers.
Like the previous version of the test 5.7ltr, it came in at different power ratings.

Same engine but different output specs.MG42pillbox wrote:400 sounds right, Is it still push rod? and is that the 6.1 in the 300 the exact one that will be used trucks?
The 300 'C' version will get the 5.7, rated at 340/390. Not the usuall 345/375 for the trucks.
