I HAVE A 72 STREET CHALLENGER WITH A 392 DUAL 4BRL.
THINKING OF GOING TO A SINGLE DOMINATOR CARB.
HAS ANY ONE DONE THIS YET.WANTING TO KNOW HOW IT
WORKED OUT AND WHAT TYPE OF INTAKE OR ADAPTERS
WHERE USED..
I HAVE A 3500 STALL IN A 727 TRANS AND 411 DANA REAEREND.
11.3 COMPRESION WITH A 535 SOLID LIFT CAMSHAFT.
THANKS TO ALL...TERRY...
WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS.1050 DOMINATOR ON A 392

I haven't tried a Dominator on a 392 yet, but I've tried an 1150 Dominator on a Pontiac 470 CID engine- and the 1150 is too big for street use. That engine runs way better with a 750 CFM Holley list 3310
using the standard formula for finding CFM size of carb, all you really need is 680 cfm. A 700-750 cfm would be perfect.
CFM= (CID X 1/2)/1728 X MAX RPM

Re: WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS.1050 DOMINATOR ON A 392
I've just adapted a Dominator to a Hot Heads dual plane manifold for the EMC. (1050 cfm, 365 cid) What do you mean by "that sure sounds big"?
On last year's engine, a 1050 Dominator made more average power than a 950 4150, but was down around five horsepower peak. We bolted it on for a quick test "just for grins". It was utilizing a 2" spacer, which wasn't allowed, and we were too short on time to play around with it.
When I figure out how to post pictures, I'll put some up of the carb, manifold, and adapter.

The only thing that should go on a 392 is an injector and a supercharger!!

Cool, so you guys are building another one, like a 354 bored over some? Killer, if so.dan miller wrote:I've just adapted a Dominator to a Hot Heads dual plane manifold for the EMC. (1050 cfm, 365 cid) Danny

Yes, going for "round two" this year. Same basic engine, except a 354 rather than a 331. Engine will be 365 cid. One significant problem with last year's 331 was that the 4" chamber diameter Hot Heads aluminum heads were considerably larger than the bore. Not good. This year, we're adding more camshaft and lifter ratio, going to really tighten up piston to valve and piston to head clearances, and spend far more dyno time sorting out induction and exhaust. (Three intake manifolds, 4150 and 4500 carburetors, two sets of headers, three sets of collectors, two ignitions, etc.)
I'll advise as soon as we get some numbers, probably a month away. We have every part in hand, save for the pistons (Ross), which are made and have been fitted, and are being coated. The heads are being opened up quite a bit, as we specified far too little airflow last year.
If anyone needs pistons, I can't say enough about Ross. They are the best we have seen, and Pat O'Neil at Ross is an absolute pleasure to work with. He digitized our Hot Heads, so if you have a set of Hot Heads, he can make a piston that exactly fits the chamber. They're a work of art, and super light.

That's just awesome. Good to see some old Mopar Detroit iron out there kicking butt!
