331, 354, 392 Exhaust manifolds
I have a 1954 New Yorker with 331 Hemi. Anyone know if 354 and 392 Hemi exhaust manifolds fit my 331?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: 331, 354, 392 Exhaust manifolds
Yup, they sho nuff will. As for whether or not there are different mannyfolds with different body styles I don't know. But they will interchange. I think the early industrial 331s had round exhaust ports, so I'm not sure if those manifolds would interchange, but the rest will. Maybe a more experienced member will chime in about the body styles.
Re: 331, 354, 392 Exhaust manifolds
The 51-3 331s had the round ex ports. The 331/354 use ram horn center dump type while the 392 uses a straighter twords the back style that doesn't flow quite as well.

Well, sorry about that Rob. Looks like I wasn't paying attention. It says on the Amazon site, "Usually ships between 1-3 months."
Amazon still shows it as available though. I see one used, very good condition copy available for $13.61 from one of their resellers. I would grab it!

Thanks David. I got it. I also made a little progress on the heads today. Had lots of other stuff to do but I found the time to take the first out of the cleaner and rinse it off and put the second in. I will bead blast the first one tomorrow and take some pictures. They are gonna be beautiful.

Rob,
I think you're going to set a record for building a fun street Hemi for the lowest cost ever!
Most guys spend many, many thousands....

We'll see. That would be fun.
Re: 331, 354, 392 Exhaust manifolds
I recently bought a 392 out of a 58 Imperial, with the' Imperial' valve covers. I sure could use some help on how the front end of the engine should dress out. I have all the pulleys and brackets, but they are off the engine, and are totally confusing. Does somebody have a pix of how and where they should go? Also need some advice on a transmission. The one on the back of this monster is made of cast iron, and had the cable shift. How much trouble to go to a newer

Has anyone ever looked at the size of the outlet on these manifolds? It looks so small to work with a heavy-breather like the 392. I understand that they will interchange among all the years. What about headers?
Re: 331, 354, 392 Exhaust manifolds
The best flowing OEM mans are the "4 bolt" mans used on 300s & Chr truck hemis. Headers flow better but rust out can be annoying. Interchange is 54-58jagster wrote:Has anyone ever looked at the size of the outlet on these manifolds? It looks so small to work with a heavy-breather like the 392. "Imperial" valve covers are 1 year only items & therefore scarce compared to the "Firepower" ones. Adaptors for modern 727s are available. Hot Heads, Wilcap, T R Waters, & Quality Engineered Components. I've used QECs on 2 projects & like them. The Wilcap & Hot Heads are "full circle" style that are supposed to fully buttoned up w/o the oil pan on, if you can't drop your pan in car, you'd have to pull engine & tranny as a unit to get either out.jagster wrote:I recently bought a 392 out of a 58 Imperial, with the' Imperial' valve covers.
