Octane Requirements

I just purchased my Hemi 1500 QC 4X4 yesterday, and did something strange... I actually read the owners manual. It has a picture saying to use 89 Octane for the 5.7, however if you read it says to use fuel with an octane rating of 87-89. What is the story?

89 is recommended for best performance however 87 is acceptable to use also. I've only used 89 octane in my truck since I bought it in May.

I was wondering if I would get a performance differance using 87 or 89.
