5 speed Transmission ratios
Does anyone know what the gear ratios are on the Ram 1500 hemi 5 speed auto trans ?,I can't dig this info up anywhere.
The 5-45RFE 5-speed auto for the 2003 2500s:
1 -- 3.00
2 -- 1.67 upshift, 1.50 kick-down
3 -- 1.00
4 -- 0.78
5 -- 0.67
The same engine and transmission in the 1500,
so I assume they probably kept the same gears.

How does this work? 2 "second gears"? I was told at the dealer that the "other" second gear counts as the "5th gear". Starting to get confused.scottm wrote:The 5-45RFE 5-speed auto for the 2003 2500s:

When accelerating (upshifting), it always uses the 1.67 gear.tirpitz wrote:How does this work? 2 "second gears"?scottm wrote:2 -- 1.67 upshift, 1.50 kick-down
When downshifting, it will use either 1.50 or 1.67 depending
on throttle position, speed, and determined engine load, for
the best performance.
