Water jacket/header bolt problems?
Water Jacket/header problems....I am trying to loosen the passenger side headers so that I might install the tranny easier. I started to loosen the rear/lowest header bolt and it started weeping water. Is this Normal???

waterjacket/header bolt problems
Thanks for your experienced insight! I was pretty disapointed to see antifreeze coming out of the header bolt last night! I am new to this forum and thrilled to be a Hemi owner!
Thanks again,

Yes they do, I found that out the hard way. You can use studs so you won't have to drain the coolant each time you remove a valve cover. Same with the headers if you have the room for the studs.Moparlee wrote:Not to hijack, but does the valve cover bolts along the intake run into the water jackets also? Thanks for your time.

Thanks.
Is it just the top side of the head on the valve cover, or is it all of them? Same question on the exhaust bolts is it all of them?
Thanks again for your guy's time.

The top row on the valve covers. As for the headers the row toward the top goes into the drain area of the head for the oil and the lower holes into the water jacket. If you don't want to use studs try using set screws or plugs then a shorter bolt but make sure your over all depth is right so you don't snap any bolts off. Also use a good high temp sealant on the studs or set screws/plugs.Moparlee wrote:Thanks.

Thanks guys. Awhile back I had ran a tap in the Valve cover holes and thought that I had push through. Good they are supposed to be like that.
