Hi folks
Have a crate 426 , but have some noise in the pass side of the block
that's a bit to loud to my concern.
Looks like a lifter is not 100% set or is bad.
Any other ideas ?
I took the camcover of and strange enough i could feel some space
between the rod and the lifter BUT ! after that first feel , the space
was gone ??? looks like the lifter had some free space first but after
i lifted the pushrod it was gone ?
Also i had tightend the camcovers , could it be that because of that the
come to close to the valvetrain ?? ( these hughe covers must be high
enough ? or not ?) is clearance there so tight ?
What can i do ? cna you adjust the pushrods with when hydrolic lifters
are in place ? ( full with oil ? )
ANY HELPS APRICIATED !!!!
Thanks !!

The lifters can be adjusted when they are full of oil. Check out this link for the procedure. http://www.moparts.com/Tech/Archive/motor/14.html

THE VALVETRAIN WAS HITTING AGAINST THE COVERS ! , AT THE SIDE !
SO MADE SOME DENTS IN THE COVERS ( NO PROBLEM DONT SEE A THING BECAUSE ON THE SIDE ! ) NOW SOUND GONE !
SEEMS THE CRATE'S HAVE TO SMALL COVERS !, SO CRATE OWNERS
AND BUYERS BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM . !

Bailiesdad,
I don't know how they could hit stock valve covers with stock rockers. His car does have the alum. rocker shaft supports. Don't know if that could cause it or not. I have heard that rockers hitting the valve covers on hemi's was quite common. Is that with longer valves? I know some of super stock guys had to dimple there valve covers for the exhaust rocker arms to clear. Anyway he said that fixed the noise so I guess that is what the problem was.
